Audio Bike Tour of the Rotterdamsebaan (2021)
Site-specific audio stories, event map, poster
in collaboration with Sophie Czich
Six Degrees of Separation was a collaborative exhibition between the Non Linear Narrative Master students of the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague, the Archaeology Department of the Municipality of The Hague, and the ‘Rotterdamsebaan’ major road project.
Sophie Czich and I led a bike tour of the Binckhorst, a former industrial neighborhood of the Hague in the Netherlands. For each of the 7 locations where an artifact was discovered, we developed an audio story centered around a fictional character in order to help tourists connect with the neighborhood’s past, present, and future.
Each story features one main character who brings the visitor into their world. The stories aim to humanize and make visible the effects of a major construction project on a neighborhood and its residents across time.
Pocket-sized maps were designed and RISO printed to aid navigation. Listen to the stories here.
